In the past few months, Yung Lean’s been sharing new singles off his upcoming album Stranger. The album is set to drop this Friday and with that, he shares yet another cut off the project with “Metallic Intuition.”
Yung Lean comes through with more fire with his latest release, “Metallic Intuition.” The production consists of ethereal synths sitting in the back on the minimal production.
Yung Lean consciously teeters off his more melodic efforts and approaches this one with more rapping. He premiered the single on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 show, where he told Lowe the song differs from the rest of the Stranger tracklist.
“Metallic Intuition, I think it was the most hip hop beat track on the whole album. When I first heard the beat, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to sing on this.
I’m going to actually sit down and write something,” he said, “I guess it became the most ‘rappy’ song on the whole project and it’s kind of a stand-out track.”
He later says the album has a natural progress but this song still has remnants of Warlord dark sounds.
With Stranger set to drop this Friday, it’ll be exciting to hear what Yung Lean’s been working on with this project. The last three singles Lean’s dropped off from the project had more of a poppier and upbeat tone to it.
Since gaining world wide attention for his music, Yung Lean’s paved his own lane within hip hop and the music industry as a whole.
It’s interesting to see his growth from dropping his debut mixtape in 2013 to what he’s been offering with his latest projects.
